Zynga, a leading developer of the world’s most popular social games, has revealed that it has appointed former Electronic Arts executive Gerard Griffin, as the firm’s new Chief Financial Officer.
During Griffin’s 10 years with Electronic Arts his most recent role was serving as Senior Vice-President of Finance in the role of finance leader for the company’s Studios, Marketing and Publishing organizations.
Griffin spent a period of six years as Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer for Electronic Arts International in the role of lead finance partner to Electronic Art’s Chief Operating Officer and Global Publishing organization before his role as Senior Vice-President of Finance.
Griffin commented on his new appointment by saying that he has always had a passion for media and entertainment and is, therefore, incredibly excited by Zynga’s unique ability to connect people around the world through games.
Griffin also said that with a strong portfolio of innovative IP, deep player relationships and incredible talent, the company is well positioned to be a leader in the growing mobile industry.
Chief Executive of Zynga, Frank Gibeau, added that Gerard’s 25 years of financial experience and deep understanding of the games, media and technology industries will be instrumental to Zynga.
Gibeau went on to say that his disciplined financial leadership and approach of working closely with teams in order to deliver high margin digital revenue, together with his ability to navigate business turnarounds, will help to put them in a stronger position to achieve long-term growth.
