The iconic English football club, Manchester United, has signed its 23rd sponsorship deal – this time with a sports betting company, Yabo Sport. This will make the gaming company an official gambling partner to the club, replacing Mo Play.
Manchester United already has sponsorship deals with some of the most popular brands in the world, including Adidas and DHL. The new deal with the Asian betting brand Yabo Sport is worth around GBP 2 – 3 million per season. While the deal has not been formally announced yet, it is expected that it is only a matter of time before it will be.
Manchester United has had betting partnerships with many top brands in the business, including Betfair and Bwin. The deal with Yabo Sport makes it the first partnership with an Asia-facing group.
Yabo Sports has been playing an increasingly active role in the global professional football market, all the while realizing the huge appeal of English football to Asian fans. The group has sponsorship deals with several international football clubs, including an official partnership with the German Bundesliga club Hertha BSC for Asian markets, as well as the French Ligue 1 team, AS Monaco.
Recently, Yabo Sports became the international presenting sponsor in Asia for Italy’s Serie A.
A total of nine (out of 20) teams in the Premier League this season have signed shirt sponsorship deals with gambling companies.
