The World Poker Tour has rolled out plans for its first online poker series, in light of the spread of the global coronavirus pandemic. The series will run from May 10th – 26th on the PartyPoker platform, announced the WPT.
“WPT and PartyPoker are proud to break new ground for both of our brands with the first WPT Online festival,” noted the World Poker Tour chief executive, Adam Pliska said. “Players from around the globe can look forward to the opportunity to play in WPT events from the comfort of their homes at all buy-in levels.”
The online series, which will incorporate the World Poker Tour Online Championship, the WPT 500 and the WPTDeepStacks, will offer an overall guaranteed prize pool of $7 million
The main event will cost $3,200 in buy-in fees for players and offers a prize pool of $5 million. The other two events each have a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million. Their schedules have already been announced.
The vice-president of WPT Europe, Hermance Blum, said that $7 million in guarantees for WPT events on the PartyPoker platform is an exciting breakthrough for the partnership.
“We can’t wait to crown our first WPT Online Championship winner and see them in the WPT Tournament of Championships presented by Baccarat Crystal,” said Blum.
