Despite the pandemic and the severe measures taken by its government to curb the spread, the Chinese lottery reported a 10.4% year on year growth of revenue last month.

Even more impressive was the fact that revenue grew 46.5% compared to February 2022.

When numbers were reported in February, analysts were impressed, attributing the 18.6% year on year rise to a number of factors such as the first knockout round of football’s UEFA Champions League.

March’s numbers were mainly attributed to the steadily growing popularity of the sports lottery, which made up most of the revenue at CNY 19.63 billion.
