Finland’s state-owned gambling monopoly and the largest and only licensed gambling operator in the country, Veikkaus, has signed an agreement with Swedish gaming content developer NetEnt, in terms of which it will integrate a new array of the latter’s award-winning slot titles to its portfolio of games.
According to gambling consultancy firm H2 Gambling Capital, Veikkaus has been struggling amidst competition from overseas gambling regulators and it estimates that Finnish players have wagered more than €286 million on offshore websites. The consultancy firm also revealed that this market is increasing and could cross an amount of €300 million this year. This has led the gambling operator to endeavor to enhance the range of offerings in order to keep maximum market share.
The partnership deal with NetEnt will see Veikkaus customers having the opportunity to gain access to NetEnt’s library of games that include sought-after titles such as Viking, Twin Spin, Gonzo’s Quest and Starburst and also have access to NetEnt’s jackpot slot Divine Fortune, featuring a jackpot that can reach an amount of up to €1 million.
Jan Hagelberg, Head of the casino games business group at Veikkaus, commented that NetEnt is constantly publishing new, high quality and entertaining slot games.
Hagelberg went on to say that their customers have been asking for NetEnt games for a long time and it is great that they can now offer them.
Earlier this year Veikkaus revealed that it would invest an amount of €8 million in online casino games to diversify their online gaming portfolio and cater to the varied tastes of casino players in the country.
