The UK Gambling Commission has been appointed a new chair by the UK Culture Secretary, Oliver Dowden. Marcus Boyle will begin his new five-year stint with Britain’s gambling authority this week, replacing Bill Moyes.
“His expertise will be invaluable as he steers the Commission into a new era of gambling regulation fit for the digital age,” said Dowden, referring to Boyle’s background in finance where he served as equity partner for professional services businesses.
Boyle was a board member and chief operating officer for Deloitte and has extensive change management experience across all sectors.
The UKGC was pleased that Boyle was so warmly welcomed by industry players, including the Betting and Gaming Council.
Chair for the council, Brigid Simmons said that the group would continue to work with the Gaming Commission, as part of its continued commitment to the highest of standards on safer gambling in the UK.
Simmons also thanked Bill Moyles for working with the Council over the past years.
In May this year, the chief executive of the UKGC, Neil McArthur announced that he was stepping down from his role, and a search is still on for his replacement.
In the meantime, deputy chief executive Sarah Gardner and COO, Sally Jones were picked as joint acting chief executives until Andrew Rhodes was appointed as his interim replacement in June.
