Daub Alderney, a subsidiary of the UK gambling group, Rank Group and operator of platforms such as KittyBingo and RegalWins, has been handed a GBP 5.8 million fine by the UK Gambling Commission.

The authority found that Daub did not have the right measures in place to pick up or prevent problem gambling. Several incidents, which led to this ruling, took place between January 2019 and March 2020.  In one incident, a player lost over GBP 45K over a period of 4 months, all the while clearly displaying problem gambling behavior that was not addressed.

The authority also ruled that Daub Alderney didn’t have effective policies to avoid money-laundering.

It is important to note that these incidents took place before Rank Group took control of Daub Alderney.

As per Helen Venn, executive director of the Gambling Commission when handing down the ruling: “This case was the result of planned compliance activity and every operator out there should be aware that we will continue to take firm action against those who fail to raise standards.”

“The licensee’s culpability, and the requisite penalty reflecting that culpability, cannot be affected by the fact that its shares have now passed from one set of investors to another.”

This is not the first time that Daub Alderney has been slapped with a hefty fine. The group was forced to pay GBP 7.1 million in 2018 for having inappropriate risk assessments.
