Leading global online gaming operator PointsBet is thrilled to announce the launch of its market-leading mobile app and digital sports betting product in the state of Virginia.

Sports wagering will be offered by the operator via a partnership with the Colonial Downs Group, a subsidiary of Peninsula Pacific Entertainment that is based in California and the owner of Rosie’s Gaming Emporium locations across Virginia, as well as the Colonial Downs Racetrack in New Kent County.

PointsBet and Colonial Downs Group were granted a license last month from the Virginia Lottery enabling them to offer online sports betting in the state.

PointsBet’s partnership with NBC Sports will also support its launch in Virginia.

The operator is the exclusive sports betting partner of NBC Sports that will see it having the opportunity to make use of the media giant’s premium television and digital assets to publicize the PointsBet brand in Virginia.

Johnny Aitken, the Chief Executive Officer at PointsBet USA, commented that they are thrilled to be launching in Virginia with their partner Colonial Downs, now bringing their best-in-market technology to such a passionate sports community.

Aitken went on to say that Virginian sports bettors will now have access to the fastest online sports betting product with the most betting options, including robust in-play capabilities.

Virginia is the eighth operational state for PointsBet’s sports betting product and follows launches in New Jersey, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Colorado, Michigan and West Virginia.

A record amount of $427.3m betting on sports was spent in October, 2021.
