The online gambling group, PointsBet has appointed a new vice-president of marketing for its Canadian division. Dave Rivers comes from an 18-year stint with Bell, where he served as director of brand marketing and sponsorship. He was also employed at Lycos Media and eyeReturn.
Dave Rivers spoke of his new role, where he will report to chief commercial officer of PointsBet, Canada, Nic Sulsky.
“I’ve been fortunate over the course of the last 20 years to hone my craft in experiential and digital marketing, and have long been a fierce advocate for technology,” he said. “To join a technology company like PointsBet, on the cutting edge of an entirely new industry in Canada, is an incredibly exciting opportunity and one I couldn’t possibly pass up.”
CCO, Sulsky called Rivers “one of the smartest and most capable marketers in North America”. He said that Rivers would play a key role as PointsBet prepares to launch a business that is unique in Canada, as well as one that uses proprietary, world-class technology to deliver for its future customers.
PointsBet has recently reported on a wave of new hires for its Canadian platform, including Dale Fallon who joined as senior director of product last month. Scott Vanderwel became chief executive.
In recent months, Canada passed legislation allowing players to participate in single-even sports betting after years of efforts to change archaic gambling laws.
