After watching its online casino and live casino platforms successfully go live in Ontario’s newly regulated igaming market last week, Playtech now predicts that it will be entering into new partnerships in the near future.

The group said that it will be announcing “a further wave” of partnerships very soon.

Shimon Akad, Playtech’s CEO said that Ontario had a significant market size and entering the market was “a major milestone for Playtech in North America”.

“We are thrilled to have launched with multiple licensees on day one and we are looking forward to continuing to launch with more of our partners in the coming days,” said Akad. “We also expect Ontario to be at the forefront of responsible gambling, where our technology and ability through artificial intelligence to analyse certain player behaviour will be particularly relevant and important.”

In 2020, the Canadian government introduced legislation which opened the door for legal online betting and gambling.

Playtech has rolled out its casino, live casino, poker and bingo technology in Ontario via NorthStar Gaming.

The group welcomed Ontario’s igaming market launch as it continues to enhance its efforts on sustainability of the gambling sector. It said that an efficient regulatory framework brings operators and suppliers under local oversight, with a strong emphasis on protecting players.
