Ahead of changes in Apple App Store guidelines in early September, the online casino software developer, Playtech announced that it will be deploying its first native product line to the store. The product is set to support Playtech operators.
The new Apple guidelines specifically incorporate real money gambling, charitable donations and lottery products. As such, many gambling operators have updated their content to be iOS native. The alternative is to see their products removed from the App Store by September 3rd.
Peter Mares, the CTO of Playtech Games Innovation Labs, said about the native-first product: “These changes have created yet another Apple-shaped hoop for operators to jump through. Luckily, we have been in the game for a very long time and understand that in order to succeed, we need to provide a solution that is guaranteed to help our licensees continue operating as usual.”
“To this end, we’re pleased to be able to support our customers in their preparation with a core, native-first product line, including a selection of fully native gaming content and natively compiled games.”
The updated clause 4.7 reads that HMTL5 games “distributed in apps may not provide access to real money gaming, lotteries or charitable donation”.
The guidelines state that this functionality is only appropriate for code that is embedded in the binary and can be reviewed by Apple.
