Penn National Gaming is pleased to announce that it has received a temporary permit from the Virginia Lottery that will enable it to offer online sports betting in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

The company anticipates launching its Barstool Sportsbook mobille app on iOS, android and desktop in Virginia within the next few months, pending final regulatory approvals.

Jay Snowden, President and Chief Executive Officer of Penn National, commented that they very much look forward to introducing their Barstool Sportsbook online sports betting product in Virginia.

Snowden went on to say that following their very successful launches in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Illinois, he is confident that Virginians will also enjoy engaging with Dave Portnoy, Dan ‘Big Cat’ Katz and other Barstool fan favorites on their Barstool Sportsbook app in the Commonwealth.

The permit awarded to Penn National was one of the up to 12 online and mobile betting permits available in Virginia. The recipient of the sports betting permit will be Penn National’s digital arm, Penn Sports Interactive, LLC, and the company is working together with the Virginia Lottery on the launch timeline.

Penn National’s online Barstool Sportsbook product was launched in Pennsylvania in September 2020, in Michigan in January 2021 and in Illinois last week.

Snowden also thanked the Virginia Lottery and its staff for their time and effort in reviewing and approving their application.
