The Canadian province of Ontario has announced that several new licenses have been issued to providers ahead of a new igaming market that is set to launch in April.

Some of the top brands will be represented in Ontario’s new regulated industry.

These include Bet365 which will operate via Hillside, as well as Unibet and FanDuel.

Others which have already secured their licenses include Rush Street Interactive, theScoreBet, 888 and LeoVegas.

Ontario will launch its market on April 4th, and the new licensees will be allowed to start operating from the first day. Their licenses will be valid for two years and will be issued by iGaming Ontario, an entity which has been tasked to oversee the province’s market and which is a subsidiary of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO).

Companies which are in the process of applying for a license, but who have not yet received them, will be asked to stop operating when the market launches. They will be allowed to start offering their products once more once they secure a license. Failing to do so will result in the operators having their license application rejected by the province’s official gaming authority.

While single-event sports betting is now permitted in Canada, provincial lotteries still do not offer this as a betting option on their platforms.
