Microgaming’s PlayItForward community initiative, which donates significant amounts of money in support of a vast range of social pursuits around the Island, has revealed that it will be supporting the Family Library’s mobile unit for the following three years.
The Mobile unit of the Family Library operates from a base on Westmoreland Road in Douglas and travels all around the island so that people who are otherwise unable to get to a library are supplied with a wide selection of books, audio CDs and other interactive material. The service is also a chance for people to meet, exchange information and form friendships.
Microgaming has pledged to donate an amount of £30,000 to the service by the year 2020.
Claire Coleman, the Head of Microgaming PlayItForward, commented on the donation by saying that the Mobile Library is a marvelous facility, but that keeping the vehicles on the road is quite costly. She added that they wanted to make a long-term commitment to the Family Library in order to ensure that people continue to benefit from the service. She also said that the team at the Mobile Library do a wonderful job – one that makes a real difference to the island’s residents and they are delighted to offer their support.
A smaller vehicle also makes home visits for those who are unable to visit the Mobile Library with staff taking the time to get to know people and what kind of books they enjoy before taking a selection of books directly to their doors.
