A donation of £12,680 has been donated by Microgaming PlayItForward to YGAM, in order to assist the charity in expanding its gambling-related harm prevention program to the Isle of Man.
The independent, UK-registered Young Gamblers Education Trust is a charity that focuses on raising awareness of gambling and gambling-related harm among young people through its accredited educational program.
The charity has delivered workshops across the United Kingdom as well as Gibraltar, the Netherlands and Malta over the past three years and Microgaming PlayItForward’s donation will enable YGAM to work with schools and the local government to deliver its “Train the Trainer” workshops in the Isle of Man.
The workshops will be aimed at youth workers, teachers and community volunteers with Microgaming collaborating with the YGAM team to facilitate the delivery of customized accredited training with regard to player protection.
The Head of Compliance at Microgaming, Kimberley Broad, commented that promoting responsible gaming and supporting their local community are very important to them, so they were naturally keen to support YGAM in extending its accredited program to the Isle of Man. He added that they have always been very impressed with the charity’s success on building a program that focuses on increasing awareness and resilience against gambling-related harm and they look forward to supporting them in delivering the vital training workshops on the island.
Lee Willows, Chief Executive at YGAM, added that they are hugely grateful for the donation from Microgaming PlayItForward as they believe taking their programs to the Isle of Man will enable them to engage with other professional (teaching) audience and gain valuable feedback on the relevance and educational content.
