Gambling firms offering licensable games in or from Malta but have yet to apply for authorization from the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) are given until April 14, 2023 to declare their non-compliance with the agency.
Gambling Firms Should Self-Report by April 14, 2023
As part of Malta’s Gaming Authorizations Regulations, any entity offering licensable games in or from Malta, under an authorization issued by another Member State of the EU or the EEA which offers similar safeguards to those offered by Maltese law, is required to apply for a “recognition notice” from the MGA.
The MGA issued the notice to give operators who have not yet applied for the said authorization but are already offering licensable games the chance to self-report their administrative non-compliance to the regulator. The MGA said it shall consider the move an act of disclosure when meting out any administrative decision arising from the non-compliance.
The operators in question must submit their response to [email protected] by April 14, 2023.
MGA Revokes BetDino’s License
The MGA also announced that it had cancelled the license of BetDino Ltd on January 18, 2023. The revocation was due to the operator’s failure to settle its financial obligations with the MGA by their due dates. The operator had also breached some of its licensing duties in Malta.
