Kambi Group has revealed that it has entered into an agreement in terms of which it will provide its online and on-property sportsbook to Mohegan Sun, MGE’s signature US integrated entertainment resort, which is one of only two Native American tribes that operate commercial casinos in Connecticut.

Mohegan Sun was introduced in 1996 by the Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut and is currently a 3.5 million square foot property situated in southeastern Connecticut, which is one of the most successful integrated resort casinos and gaming destinations in the western hemisphere where 60% of the state’s tourism is located.   It boasts both Casino of the Earth & Casino of the Sky, a cutting edge poker room as well as three major entertainment venues.

Following the repeal of the federal sports betting ban in the US in May of last year, Kambi has built a position in New Jersey and Pennsylvania and will be processing the first legal online wager in the country outside of Nevada.

The Kambi sportsbook will be integrated into Mohegan Sun’s iPro gaming platform to power a free-to-play sportsbook allowing patrons to familiarize themselves with the Kambi product ahead of a regulated real-money launch.

Aviram Alroy, Vice President of Interactive Gaming for Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, said that Mohegan Sun’s goal is to utilize their brand and strong presence in the state and after a long vetting process, they found that Kambi was best positioned to complement that, as they are the most sophisticated and comprehensive Sportsbook out there.

Kristian Nylen, CEO at Kambi, said that Kambi’s strategy in the US is to partner with the biggest and best gaming operators each state has to offer.
