It has been reported that regulators are currently endeavoring to launch retail sports betting in Indiana on the first day permitted under the state’s new law with stakeholders being made aware of the goal to push for a launch on 1st September 2019.

It would appear as though there will be sports betting in the state by the start of the NFL season which is fantastic news for Indianapolis Colts fans who would possibly want to get a jump on NFL betting tips research.

Andrew Luck and the Colts begin the 2019 NFL season on Sunday, 9th September 2019 in Los Angeles versus the Chargers.

The launch will be for retail only as the Indiana Gaming Commission requires considerable testing before online sportsbooks can get up and running.  It is hoped that this will happen in the months following the launch of retail operators with the once, nice thing about Indiana online sports betting being that remote registration will be permissible.

Sara Gonso Tait, the Executive Director of the Indiana Gaming Commission, said that they want to do this as quickly as they can, but they want to do it responsibly.  She added that the Commission is not ruling out the possibility that a product, like an app, could be ready on time.

Tait also said that betting will be allowed on professional and college sports at casinos, racinos and off-track betting facilities that are approved to conduct legal sports wagering as well as in-person sports betting.

Betting on high school sports, youth sporting events and e-sports is still prohibited.
