International Game Technology (IGT) is thrilled to announce that the Company has been granted an interim license by the West Virginia Lottery Commission that will see it having the opportunity to provide its PlayShot integrated sports betting platform in the state.
The approval will enable casino operators in West Virginia to now have the option to partner with IGT in order to participate in the fast emerging sports betting market in the United States.
Enrico Drago, the Senior Vice President PlayDigital at IGT, commented on the interim license by saying that receiving approval from the West Virginia Lottery Commission to deploy IGT’s PlayShot sports betting solution throughout the State continues IGT’s momentum in pioneering sports betting across the United States and creates additional new market opportunities for IGT.
Drago went on to say that this distinction acknowledges the reliability, security and market-readiness of IGT’s PlayShot solution and creates opportunities for IGT to further differentiate their sports betting solution in the marketplace.
The license will let IGT team up with casinos located in the state to offer sports betting when the legislature legalizes the activity, which is expected to occur sometime this year. The company’s licensing follows GeoComply having received their sports betting license, which will help to enforce the cyber borders for punters in the state to put down the wagers.
FanDuel, Kambi and William Hill are among the companies who are looking to offer their services in the state, all of which have submitted proposals for facilitating their bets.
