Fortuna Entertainment has revealed that the main reason behind a “robust performance” in the six months to 30th June 2016 is its rapidly growing online sports betting business.
There was an increase of 24.2% year-on-year on total amounts staked by customers in the first half of the year to €511.6 million ($578 million), with total gross win up by 19.9% to €80.5 million as well.
The company also noted that online gross win within its online sports betting arm increased by 30.9% year-on-year to an amount of €50.2 million, with total earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) up 7.7% to €9.7 million.
Net profit for the first half was 12.1% more than last year, coming in at €5.4 million.
Per Widerstrom, Chief Executive and Chairman at Fortuna, commented by saying that their robust performance was driven by growing online sports betting, and in particular mobile, in all the countries where Fortuna operates.
Widerstrom went on to say that the growth was also supported by the UEFA EURO 2016 Football Tournament in France in which the national teams played from all the countries where Fortuna is present.
Fortuna has, meanwhile, entered into a deal with Playtech for the supply of a multi-channel betting and gaming platform.
The agreement will see Playtech provide Fortuna with a platform that will give the company an opportunity to take advantage of tools such as a customized and scalable multi-channel solution.
Wilderstrom also said that the Playtech platform, which is being customized for Fortuna’s needs, will see them offering a market leading scalable multichannel, product-and-jurisdiction offering.
Chief Executive of Playtech, Mor Weizer, added that having so successfully launched the Fortuna brand in Romania, Playtech is thrilled to be announcing the partnership with Fortuna with respect to Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland as well as future potential new regulated markets.
