West Virginia is preparing to launch a state-regulated industry later this summer by starting to issue interim permits for sports betting and GeoComply Solutions, a leading geolocation supplier, has become the first company to earn approval for West Virginia Sports Betting. West Virginia will be among the first states to join Nevada in the sports betting marketplace.
David Biggs, the Chief Executive Officer at GeoComply Solutions, confirmed the preliminary go-ahead in a press release on Wednesday, 8th August, 2018, commenting that West Virginia has been very proactive in their goal to become among the first states to introduce legal online sports wagering and they are grateful for the support they have shown them in the licensing process.
Biggs went on to say that they are now ready to supply compliance-grade geolocation solutions to the local operators and partners in the West Virginia to get online sports wagering up and running in the state.
The new license will enable GeoComply Solutions to provide its geolocation compliance solution to assist online gambling operators in making certain that they are only taking wagers from consumers who are located in the state.
West Virginia has not yet legalized sports betting and it will be necessary for the interim license to obtain full approval from the West Virginia Lottery.
Daniel Boyd, Managing General Counsel for the West Virginia Lottery, commented that the state hopes to go live with a regulated service before the start of the 2018 NFL American football season in September.
A number of other gambling firms intend joining GeoComply in West Virginia.
