The State of New York posted May 2021 numbers relating to its commercial sports betting activity, showing that revenue increased 23.1% compared to April. A total of $1.6 million was generated in May.
Gambling authorities were not able to produce year on year comparisons since New York’s four commercial casinos were shuttered last May during the peak of the coronavirus. They only reopened in September 2020 and sports betting wasn’t offered in those months.
The New York casino that generated the most money in total sports betting revenue in May 2021 was the Rivers Casino and Resort, the Schenectady-based, Rush Street-owned casino. This resort generated $641,102 in total.
The second-best performing casino was the del Lago Resort and Casino in Waterloo, which runs a sports betting operation with the iconic DraftKings group. Their total generated was $555,855.
In third place was the Resorts World Catskills with just over $300,000 (up significantly from the $8,000 posted in April, 2021).
Last in line was Tioga Downs Casino, with its unimpressive $85,550 generated through its partnership with FanDuel sports book.
The numbers published by the New York gambling authorities pertain to the state’s four commercial casinos only. They do not take into account the revenue generated by the tribal casinos. New York has 16 federally-approved tribal casinos, eight of which are Class III Vegas-style properties.
