The Columbus Crew, an American professional soccer club based in Columbus, Ohio has entered into an exclusive sponsorship deal with Tipico Sportsbook giving the latter access to operate in Ohio when the state opens to sports betting.

In terms of the deal, Tipico becomes a founding level partner of Columbus Crew giving it title sponsorship of a club and beer garden as well as brand integration throughout the Major League Soccer club’s Lower.com Field and digital content for fans, bookmakers and joint community programming.

The new deal also allows Tipico access to one of 25 online licenses to operate in Ohio with State Legislators giving each of the state’s seven pro teams and the hosts of PGA Tour and NASCAR events control of at least one of those licenses.

David Jenkins, Chief Operating Officer of Haslam Sports Group, which owns the Crew, commented that they are thrilled to announce their partnership with a highly respected global brand and passionate soccer enthusiast in Tipico.

He also said that as they make their foray into Ohio, their long-term agreement with Tipico represents an exciting development for Crew supporters and sports fans in Central Ohio and throughout the state.

Jenkins went on to say that providing a world-class experience for supporters is at the core of what they do and so they look forward to increasing fan engagement opportunities in Columbus and throughout Ohio through this partnership.

It is expected that Ohio will go live with online and mobile sports betting prior to 1st January 2023, after Governor Mike DeWine set that date as a deadline to launch.
