Leading online betting group Codere is pleased to announce that they have become the latest operator to launch on online betting website in Colombia after obtaining a Columbian gaming license from national regulater Coljuegos.
The new license obtained by Codere will enable it to begin offering online sports wagers in the country for the next five years.
Codere has revealed that its betting operation will be run through the Codere Apuestas brand, which will be offering wagers via desktop as well as mobile channels and various face-to-face channels. At present, the company operates game rooms and bingo halls all around the country.
Codere became the first jurisdiction in Latin America in October of 2016 to formally approve online gambling and a number of licenses has been issued by regulator Conjuegos in the last couple of months that allows companies to offer their services legally.
The first license under new national laws in the country was awarded to Wplay.co back in June and the company has since struck up a partnership with Quickfire that will see it offering a selection of content from Microgaming.
The Codera launch follows Colijuegos president Juan B Perez Hidalgo revealing that the regulator expects to award “at least two more” online licenses before the end of 2017.
Coljuegos also recently announced that it will enable licensed operators to offer live online casino and share global liquidity for online poker and exchange betting.
