PointsBet, a premier sportsbook operator, has entered into a multi-year partnership with Catfish Bend Casino, one of Iowa’s leading casino, entertainment and hotel destinations, in terms of which it will launch premium retail as well as mobile sportsbook operations in Iowa after proper licensing is granted by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission.
The partnership will see PointsBet and Catfish Bend Casino working together in order to build a multi-faceted sports entertainment venue centrally located on the Catfish Bend property. This will include a sports bar, multi-screen video and odds display wall as well as additional casino gaming options.
A bill that would see betting on sporting events and fantasy sports being legalized in Iowa has already passed the Senate and is due to be considered in the House.
Johnny Aitken, CEO at PointsBet US, commented that they are thrilled to announce this partnership, enabling them to create a first-class sportsbook for Iowa’s sports bettors at one of the best casino resorts in the Midwest. He added that Catfish Bend Casino’s executives – Gary Hoyer and Rob Higgins – are two of the most progressive and forward-thinking operators in the industry and they knew they were the perfect match for PointBet’s long-term vision of gaming in the US from day one.
Gary Hoyer, CEO of Great River Entertainment, the parent company of Catfish Bend Casino, stated that they could not imagine a better sportsbook to bring to Catfish Bend Casino and the state of Iowa. He added that the potential legalization of sports betting in Iowa opens an exciting new opportunity for recreational and avid players, and PointsBet’s unmatched dedication to bettors makes them the ideal partner for their brand and go-to-market plan.
