A new World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event winner has been crowned. The prestigious title went to Norwegian poker pro Espen Jorstad who outclassed a massive field of 8,663 players, the second-largest in the history of the series, to claim the top prize of $10,000,000, and the first WSOP Main Event title for his home country.
Jorstad’s massive victory also catapulted him to the top spot of Norway’s all-time money list, surpassing 2014 WSOP Main Event runner-up Felix Stephensen.
Jorstad Wants to Enter High Roller Circuit
Jorstad dedicates his win to his mother whom he calls his “biggest fan”. As for his plans for the huge $10,000,000 prize money, the poker pro said he’d like to use some of it to play high-stakes tournaments which has always been his goal. He also intends to invest in cryptocurrency and tech stocks.
During heads-up play, Jorstad was up against Adrian Attenborough, the one player he admitted he didn’t want to face in the final round. In the end, Jorstad was able to conquer his fears and outclassed his Australian opponent who walked away with a $6,000,000 payout for finishing second.
Final Table Finishers
The other players who made it to the final table were Michael Duek (3rd, $4,000,000), John Eames (4th, $3,000,000), Matija Dobric (5th, $2,250,000), Jeffrey Farnes (6th, $1,750,000), Aaron Duczak (7th, $1,350,000), Philippe Souki (8th, $1,075,000), Matthew Su (9th, $850,675), and Asher Conniff (10th, 675,000).

GGPoker hired Dan Bilzerian to be their poker ambassador in 2021 mainly because the Instagram King has a massive fan following on the social network with over 33 million followers. However, GGPoker cut ties with Bilzerian on international women’s day in March 2022.
Bilzerian Hit GGPoker With $170K Travel Bill
There were different rumours floating around as to why GGPoker and Bilzerian parted ways. Some were of the view that Bilzerian was too controversial for GGPoker with his sexist remarks on social media causing offense to many female poker players.
However in a recent podcast Bilzerian opened up and said that he wasn’t very happy representing GGPoker as he wasn’t getting the payment he was promised. Bilzerian pointed out that he wanted GGPoker to pay him $170,000 as travel expenses to attend and promote a poker tournament.
Bilzerian tends to travel to most places in a private jet and it looks like GGPoker wasn’t keen on paying that bill. Bilzerian also claimed that he drove a ton of traffic to GGPoker but did not get the millions in revenue that he was promised from GGPoker. The Instagram King said he was happy to part ways with GGPoker as he was no longer interested in promoting the brand.
