There’s a new tournament to enjoy on PokerStars US, and it comes with an exciting feature – the guarantee goes up every time it’s hit! Apart from that, players win extra prizes in the form of casino bonuses.  The tournament, called “Monday Jackpot”, debuted on February 27 in New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

Monday Jackpot on PokerStars US

As its name suggests, Monday Jackpot takes place every Monday and plays out as a 9-handed tournament. It costs just $10 to enter, and players receive 10,000 in starting stack, with blinds increasing every eight minutes.

For the MI-NJ network, Monday Jackpot has an initial guarantee of $5,000, while for the ring-fenced Pennsylvania market, the guarantee is set at $3,000.

If the target is hit in a particular week, PokerStars will boost the guarantee for the next edition of the tournament. The amount that will be added to the guarantee will depend on the turnout of the previous tournament.

Successful US Debut

The tournament’s US debut on February 27 was successful, with the MI-NJ network recording 879 entries and the separate PA tournament attracting 477 entries, both smashing their guarantees by 60% and 45% respectively.

The next edition of the Monday Jackpot plays out today, March 6, and players could see guarantees going up by at least $1,000. On top of that, PokerStars will also be giving away $1,000 in Casino prizes each week via random drops.

The 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) live festival is just around the corner and WSOP.com wants to make sure online players get plenty of chances to win their way into the $10K Main Event. The operator is running affordable Main Event satellites each week across all of its US markets in New Jersey, Nevada, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.

For a buy-in of only $215, players can secure a seat into the festival’s flagship event and get the opportunity to become a WSOP Main Event champion.

$215 Weekly Satellites on WSOP.com

The satellites take place every Sunday on WSOP NJ, WSOP NV, WSOP PA, and WSOP MI throughout March. They cost just $215 to enter in all four states and allow double re-entries.

The satellites run at different times based on the jurisdiction you’re in – for players in MI and PA, the satellites run at 18:00 (6 pm), while for those in NJ and NV, the satellites are scheduled to take place at 16:30 (4:30 pm).

WSOP Circuit Super Series in MI and PA

While the Main Event satellites are running, players in MI and PA can take a shot at the WSOP Circuit Super Series which runs from March 9-26.  The festival features 18 ring events, some of which have five-figure guarantees.

Since launching its shared liquidity network in the US, PokerStars has continued to hype players up with exciting game offerings, promotions, and online festivals. This month, players in Michigan and New Jersey have another reason to celebrate as PokerStars is set to host its biggest guaranteed tournament series in the US online poker market – the US Spring Championship of Online Poker (USASCOOP).

USASCOOP Series – Key Details

As PokerStars players in Michigan and New Jersey now belong to a single pool, they will be competing with each other in the first-ever MI-NJ SCOOP Series which runs from March 17 to April 3.

The upcoming festival, which features a massive $3 million guarantee, is the biggest-guaranteed tournament series to be hosted by PokerStars in the US online poker market. It’s just the second tournament series run by the operator on the MI-NJ network, after the successful $2.5M GTD PSPC Online Series back in January.

The ring-fenced Pennsylvania market isn’t left out of the equation as players in the state get to compete for $2 million in guaranteed prizes, with their own version of the SCOOP series, PASCOOP, also running on the same dates.

Full Schedule to be Released in Coming Days

Overall, $5 million in guarantees will be awarded to PokerStars players in the US during this year’s SCOOP series. The full schedule of the series will be released in the coming days.

Chris Moneymaker has decided to close his poker room in Kentucky to avoid a potential clash with authorities regarding the legality of its operations. The 2003 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion opened the Moneymaker Social Club in September 2022 after obtaining approval from the former McCracken County Attorney Sam Clymer.

Ex-County Attorney Said Moneymaker’s Poker Room Was Legal

Moneymaker had no qualms about running the poker room, with Clymer himself declaring that it was legal. It operated similarly to the poker clubs in Texas whereby instead of paying rake, customers are only charged membership/seat fees to be able to play. But things took a turn for the worse a few months ago when Moneymaker tried to apply for a liquor license.

The license application, which was ultimately declined by the Kentucky Department for Alcohol Control (ABC), paved the way for Moneymaker’s poker room to be declared illegal by the new County Attorney, Cade Foster.

Moneymaker Social Club Will Stay Open

To avoid legal action, the Moneymaker Social Club eventually stopped spreading poker games, but its other services will continue so that workers retain their jobs, according to Moneymaker. The Poker Hall of Famer said Foster had approved of the club’s business model before starting his current role back in November 2022. The American poker pro said he isn’t sure why the county attorney suddenly changed his mind.
