The Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), the Netherlands gambling regulator, observed in its Market Scan 2022 that the launch of online gambling sites has impacted land-based casinos in the country.

The scan reveals that the licensed Dutch gambling market recorded €3.4 billion in gross gambling revenue (GGR), reflecting an 85% increase compared to the €2 billion GGR of 2021.

After the Netherlands legalized online gambling in the autumn of 2021, casino game GGR (land-based and online) increased from €1.5 billion (2019) to €1.9 billion (2022), while the land-based sector declined by 30%.

A total of 382 investigative reports concerning these arrests were processed as of Oct 5 and court charges were made for violations to the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953. There are still another 1,300 plus investigation reports that are waiting to be processed.
