Online gaming operator Betway has announced that they have entered into a new agreement in terms of which it will continue to serve as the title sponsor for the UK Championship tournament for the next three years.
The operator first signed a deal to sponsor the tournament in 2015 and will now remain on as the sponsor up to and including the 2020 event.
The tournament, that is officially called the Betway UK Championship, is considered as snooker’s second highest ranking event after the World Championship.
The new agreement signed by the parties will see Betway continuing to get naming rights as well as exclusive marketing opportunities.
The Betway UK Championship is part of snooker’s Triple Crown that currently takes place at the York Barbican.
Anthony Werkman, Betway’s newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, commented on the agreement by saying that Betway UK Championship is a fantastic event to be involved with and they are really happy to be extending their partnership for a further three years. He added that continuing their sponsorship in snooker, and particularly with a top level event like the Betway UK Championship, is really important as they look to build on the strong growth they have achieved in recent years.
World Snooker Chairman, Barry Hearn, added that they are delighted to welcome Betway on board for at least another three years, especially as they are such a fantastic team to work with.
Hearn went on to say that they celebrate 40 years of the UK Championship this year and remember the iconic moments that this marvelous tournament has produced. He added that the eyes of the world are now watching with a global television audience of over 400 million fans.
