Punchestown Racecourse has announced that leading Malta and UK licensed online betting and casino company Betway has joined the sponsorship ranks at the home of Irish jump racing.
The feature race on the opening day of the 2018 Punchestown Winter Festival, scheduled to be held on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th November 2018, will be the Grade 2 Betway Craddockstown Novice Steeplechase.
The famous two mile chase that is worth €44,500 has produced first-class winners in the past with names that include Sizing Europe, Sizing John, Limestone Lad and Moscow Flyer appearing in the role of honor.
Waterford trainer Henry de Bromhead has found that the race has been a happy hunting ground for him. The trainer has won four of the last nine runnings, most recently in 2016 with Gigginstown House’s Identity Thief.
Earlier this year Betway made their first entry onto the Irish racing sponsorship area during this year’s Galway Festival and now join forces with Punchestown to gain a grip on the Graded jump racing stage.
Betway’s Alan Alger commented on the sponsorship by saying that the Galway Festival was excellent and they are now very much looking forward to their second phase of sponsorship in Irish racing.
Alger went on to say that Punchestown is right up there with the best of stages for jumps racing across the UK and Ireland, so they are thrilled to be a part of that.
Alger also said that it is a great place for them to be branching out and they are hugely excited to be sponsoring the feature race on the opening day of the Winter Festival. He added that the race has produced some brilliant chasers over the years and they are looking forward to the 2018 renewal with an added interest.
