Betfred, one of the largest UK-based bookmakers in the world, is thrilled to announce that it has signed a deal in terms of which it has extended its title sponsorship of the World Snooker Championship until at least 2021.
The current agreement that was entered into in May 2016, was due to expire after this year’s World Snooker Championship which commenced on 20th April and will continue until 6th May 2019.
The extension to the sponsorship was signed today by Betfred boss, Fred Done as well as the World Snooker Chairman, Barry Hearn at the tournament’s home, the Crucible Theatre, situated in Sheffield.
The signing of the extension follows the Bookmaker having supported each edition of the World Snooker Championship event since the year 2015 and also having served as title sponsor between 2009 and 2012.
Barry Hearn, the Chairman of Event Organizer, World Snooker, commented on the extension deal by saying that this is their biggest event and it is fitting that they are working alongside a fantastic sponsor.
Hearn went on to say that half a billion people across the planet will be fixed to the action over the coming days as the 2019 Championship reaches its conclusion.
Betfred Chairman Fred Done, said that they absolutely love sponsoring the World Snooker Championship which is a fabulous event that receives massive exposure around the world.
Done also said that they look forward to working with World Snooker for years to come.
The 2018 edition of the World Snooker Championship was won by Mark Williams.
