Microgaming is pleased to announce that it has signed a licensing agreement through Studiocanal, brokered by Creative Licensing Corporation that will see the company develop an online slot game based on the original “Highlander” movie.
“Highlander”, that was directed by Russel Mulcahy and released in the year 1986, is based on a story by Gregory Widen. The movie takes place in New York City and Scotland in the 1980s and features an eternal Scottish swordsman, Conner MacLeod played by Christopher Lambert who must challenge the last of his immortal opponent in order to win the epic “prize.”
David Reynolds, the Games Publisher at Microgaming, commented on the agreement by saying that Highlander is seen as one of the great cult hits of the 80s. He also said that with its action packed storyline and large rock inspired composition, it is a fantastic brand for an online slot game.
Reynolds went on to say that the game studio is currently in the process of completing the slot that captures all of the movie magic. He added that the game’s features will incorporate the historical Scottish Highlands and gritty New York City, with a classic movie poster art style and blistering guitar tracks.
Stephanie Kupperman, of Creative Licensing added that many of the iconic characters from classic “Highlander” are featured in the slot, including Christopher Lambert as Conner MacLeod, Roxanne Hart as Brenda Wyatt and Clancy Brown as The Kurgan.
The 243 ways to play “Highlander” slot game is due to go live on Wednesday, 6th December 2017.
