America’s leading sports book operator William Hill US, recently celebrated the official opening of its’ first-ever location in Washington D.C. and first-ever within a sports complex in the U.S.
Inaugural season ticket holders from the Washington Wizards, Capitals and Mystics placed the ceremonial first bets. The temporary sports book is situate inside the Capital One Arena Box Office at 601 F Street, NW.
Monumental Sports & Entertainment (MSE), that is led by Ted Leonsis, the Founder, Chairman, Principal Partner and Chief Executive Officer, is the parent company of the Washington Capitals, Wizards, Mystics and Capital One Arena.
The timing of the opening coincides with the return of professional sports following the suspension that all leagues imposed in the wake of the global coronavirus pandemic.
Joe Asher, Chief Executive Officer of William Hill US, commented that Washington D.C. is known for its dedicated sports fans, and they are excited to finally bring them a new way to engage with their favorite teams.
Asher also said that being the first to open a retail location in a professional sports venue would not be possible without their relationship with Ted Leonsis and his team at MSE. He added that their teams are working hard to finalize the permanent sports book, restaurant and bar concept they originally envisioned inside the arena.
