The Microgaming Health & Care Trust recently made a donation of £10,000 to the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group which contributed towards the Manx Breast Unit acquiring a new ultrasound machine that will improve patient access to diagnosis and assessment.

The new machine will help the surgical team to detect post-operative complications and locate indeterminate breast lesions for biopsy.  The equipment will also assist in the assessment of post-operative implants in patients undergoing reconstructive treatment after mastectomy.

The Chairman of the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group, Julie Stokes, commented that the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group is thrilled to have received a donation of £10,000 from the Microgaming Health & Care Trust.  She went on to say that the new equipment will make an important difference to the Breast Unit team and will help significantly in improving the patient experience.  She thanked the Trust for their continued support.

Paul Novelie, Trustee of the Microgaming Health & Care Trust, added that the island benefits greatly from the dedicated breast care unit, so the Trust was naturally keen to help the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group again.

The Microgaming Health & Care Trust’s previous donations helped to equip the Manx Breast Unit with a Breast Coil – a specialized tool that is used in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans. The Manx Breast Cancer Support Group has to date raised in excess of £2.2 million and continues with its fundraising in an endeavor to ensure the clinic offers an extensive breast screening service on the island
