ZenSports, the mobile peer-to-peer sports betting marketplace, has announced that it has launched Esports betting within its platform, giving players the opportunity to wager on individual competitors.
Punt will be available to UK customers over the age of 18, and will initially offer a selection of betting options on Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) players in the ESL Pro League, with Dota2 and other major titles due to follow later in the year.
Marl Thomas, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ZenSports, commented that since launching last year, they had their best month ever in February 2020, processing over $2.5M worth of bets in their platform but then the bottom fell out last month when all of the major sports leagues postponed their matches due to COVID-19.
Thomas went on to say that it was certainly a challenging situation to be faced with last month but that they are a scrappy, resourceful startup. He added that unlike larger companies that would have a tough time of adjusting, they were able to move quickly to stay relevant and continue offering their customers a great betting experience in their app.
Thomas also said that Esports was already on their roadmap to add in Q4 of 2020 and that COVID-19 simply accelerated that timeline. He added that they are confident that traditional sports leagues will return soon, and that, coupled with their new Esports offering, gives them a wide array of betting options for their customers.
ZenSports is also making plans to launch MMA, NASCAR and traditional soccer leagues in the near future.
