Microgaming has revealed that entries are now open for the 2018 Microgaming Soapbox Race, scheduled to take place in Douglas at 6 p.m. on Saturday, 1st September 2018.
This year’s fundraiser is anticipated to be even bigger and better than ever before, with adrenaline-charged jumps, arduous slops and tight turns for participants to manoeuver.
The race will begin at Circular Road and drivers will have an opportunity to zoom through Upper Church Street prior to speeding into Barrack Street where the finish line awaits.
Participants will be awarded prizes for the Fastest Lap, Biggest Jump, Highest Speed and Best Crash. There will also be awards for “Outstanding Kart Design” and “best dressed”, which promises a fast-moving evening with unforgettable performances and crazy vehicles.
Soapbox designs have previously included Brum, from the popular television series, the Snaefell Mountain Railway and a Double Decker Bus.
All proceeds raised from the Soapbox Race will be given to Hyperbaric Isle of Man, a local charity that treats 15,000 patients on the Isle of Man every year and provides them with hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
The 2016 Microgaming Soapbox Race, raised a massive amount of £4,000 for the charity, with overall donations amounting to almost £7.000 to date.
Microgaming PlayItForward has been supporting the event since 2014 and will be providing financial and organizational assistance and also have a group of PlayItForward volunteers present in order to assist with the event.
3FM will also be returning as media partner to promote the soapbox race on-air.
