Leading internet betting group Unibet, is pleased to announce that they have entered into a sponsorship deal with World Chess that will see it sponsoring this year’s FIDE World Chess Championship Match 2018.

In terms of the agreement, Unibet will be given a full suite of exclusive rights, including digital advertising, brand logo in the playing area and on players’ interview backdrops.  The betting group will also receive exclusive photo and video content as well as a chance to take part in the First Move Ceremony in one of the rounds.  Unibet will also have an opportunity to offer fans exclusive promotions on the Championship rounds throughout the tournament.

The sponsorship deal is the second time that Unibet has received exclusive betting rights to a leading World Chess event, having previously sponsored The World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championship in 2015.

The FIDE World Chess Championship Match 2018 is scheduled to be held in London from Friday, 9th to Wednesday, 28th November 2018, with Norwegian chess grandmaster and three-time champion Magus Carlsen due to play American Fabiano Caruana.

Richard Ostrom, Country Manager for Unibet Norway, commented on the sponsorship by saying that as the leading online bookmaker in Europe, they wish to be a part of and contribute to big sporting events and they are very happy to be a preferred betting partner for World Chess both before and during the World Championship.

Ostrom went on to say that they believe that this year’s World Championship brawl between Magnus Carlsen and Fabiano Caruana in London will further cement chess on the international stage of betting.
