The Microgaming Health & Care Trust recently made a donation to Noble’s Hospital that has helped to fund an emergency simulation system to enable staff to be trained for major incidents.
The Trust’s donation has been invested by the hospital in order to acquire the Emergo Train System (ETS), which is an internationally recognized training tool that is used for simulating emergency scenarios that involve major casualties that range from natural disasters to chemical incidents and epidemics.
The Emergo Train System will be available to all hospital staff, including the ambulance service and will enable teams to practice less common and rare critical care scenarios giving them the opportunity to prepare in a risk-free environment. The Emergo Train System will also allow the hospital to exercise and review existing major incident strategies and assist in fine-tuning emergency response plans.
Dr. Gareth Davies, the Hospital Lead for Emergency Preparedness at Noble’s Hospital, commented on the donation by saying that they are extremely grateful to the Microgaming Health & Care Trust for the funding.
Dr. Davies went on to say that they have given them an amazing piece of equipment to stress test their major incident plan, which can be used and reused by every department in the hospital year on year.
Dr. Roy Clague, Chairman of the Microgaming Health & Care Trust, added that the resilience and preparedness of their island’s health care staff is essential, and the simulation system will help strengthen real world communication, teamwork and crisis management during critical events.
