Proposed to change the name of the holding company Unibet Group plc to Kindred Group plc in an endeavor to improve synergy, clarity and flexibility around the Group’s multi-brand strategy. The Board feels that the new name will complement the company’s full portfolio of products.
The proposed name change will not affect the customer facing brands which include Unibet, Bingo.com, iGame, MariaCasino and Stan James.
The Board has noticed an increasing benefit of adding more brands to the portfolio over the last nine years and feels that the group will be better able to draw the full potential of these brands with a Group name that differs from the consumer brand.
The Group Chairman at Unibet, Anders Strom, commented on the proposed change of name by saying that in this rapidly changing industry, clarity is extremely important. Strom also said that this is the reason that they are proposing to change the name of their group company, thereby avoiding confusion and creating better conditions for their future growth.
Storm also went on to say that this is a small and predominantly internal change with all the customer facing brands still remaining the same and the change only relating to the group name.
The proposed name change will be subject to the approval of the owners at an Extraordinary General Meeting, which the Board of Directors has scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 6th December 2016 in Stockholm.
Unibet Group is one of the largest listed online gambling operators in Europe and is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm.
