The board of Webis, the Group that specializes in pool wagering and the operators of Cal Expo, the Californian harness track, has announced that its Advanced Deposit Wagering (ADW) business, WatchandWager.com LLC (“WatchandWager) was granted approval for a license from the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission on Tuesday, 13th December 2016.
The approval is effective immediately and will run throughout next year and enable the company to take live registrations, deposits and wagers from residents of the US state.
The company is required to lodge a $100,000 (€94,100) bond with the Commission in order to obtain the license and is expected to do so next month.
Kentucky is well-known as the “cradle of horse racing” in the United States due to the hundreds of horse farms, training centers and breeding farms in the state’s Bluegrass Region.
A large number of Kentucky’s population of over 4.4 million love horse racing more than they love bourbon whiskey or basketball. Five Thoroughbred tracks and a harness racing track are situate in the state that is also home to the Kentucky Derby, which is the biggest annual horse race in America.
WatchandWager is offering a special matching-deposit bonus for a limited time to residents in Kentucky who register and fund a new wagering account in order to mark the new license.
President of WatchandWager, Ed Comins, commented on the approval of the license by saying that they are pleased to add Kentucky to the ever-expanding list of states where WatchandWager can accept wagers.
Comins went on to say that their company’s experience in Kentucky has been a very positive one, and that being able to accept wagers from residents of the state only cements this relationship.
