Bet365, a leading UK online gambling operator, is pleased to reveal that it has made its official launch into the digital market in Mexico via the Bet365.mx domain.
The Stoke-based Bet365’s Mexican-facing site debuted officially last week, complete with the official stamp of the Direcccion General de Juegos y Sorteeous (DGJS), a division of the Ministry of the Interior (SEGOB), which overseas gambling activity in Mexico.
The site lists the Mexico City-based Ganador Azteca (Aztec Winner), a spinoff of TV Azteca multimedia conglomerate, as Bet365’s local partner.
In September of last year, TV Azteca was granted a 25-year gaming license to open one land-based casino in the state of Veracuz and to operate a single gambling website.
In November, the license was amended to allow the company to ‘operate individually or with one or more operators, to collect bets through various domains or various internet sites’. Later that month, the license was amended once again to specifically identify Bet365.mx as the domain by which the company intended serving Mexican gamblers.
Last week, TV Azteca announced that it was taking a $5m stake in Allied Esports in an endeavor to create a new eSports digital channel and a permanent eSports competition venue in Mexico.
