The Isle of Man based online casino software group, Microgaming has announced the third annual Soapbox Race that will be held in Douglas in September.

Entries are now open for this fast-paced race which has attracted speed demons, thrill seekers and kart-building enthusiasts for the past two years.  Participants are invited to build a soapbox cart in any design and race it through the streets of Douglas. Microgaming is the main sponsor of this whacky but highly popular event which attracts up to 40 participants each year.

The event in 2015 saw participants building karts that resembled double-decker busses, a racing-green wheelie bin and an RNLI lifeboat, to mention just a few.

The proceeds of this event go to the local charity, Hyperbaric Isle of Man which provides oxygen therapy through pressurized chambers to patients from the island. Ten thousand treatments were administered last year alone.

Once more, Microgaming proves its commitment to social responsibility through the sponsorship of the annual soapbox race and other charities.

“I am delighted that the Microgaming Soapbox Race is back for a third installment,” said the event organizer, Elliot Moore. “What started as just an idea has turned into an annual entertainment fixture that gathers huge crowds on the streets of Douglas, and importantly raises a great amount for a brilliant charity.”

Moore added that plans were underway for the 2016 event which he was sure would be “a great night out for all”.
