The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has announced the creation of a new “Industry Forum” aimed at improving cooperation with the gambling sector in deciding how best to make progress regarding gambling regulation.
According to UKGC Chair Marcus Boyle, the forum represents a new way for them to collaborate with representatives from the industry they regulate.
Industry Forum to be Comprised of 10 Members from UK Gambling Sector
The forum will be comprised of 10 individuals with relevant experience in the UK gambling industry, with the group led by a Chair which will be appointed by the UKGC for a term of three years.
The forum will add to the existing advisory groups that are already supporting the UKGC in ensuring that its work is evidence-based, such as the Advisory Board for Safer Gambling and the Lived Experience Advisory Panel.
Submission of Expressions of Interest to Begin this Month
The Commission will begin accepting expressions of interest for the forum’s membership in September during which it will also commence the recruitment process for the forum’s Chair. The new body will provide the UKGC with direct feedback from the UK’s licensed operators on key areas, including customer management, consultations, and the agency’s data programme.
