French gambling regulator l’Autorité Nationale des Jeux (ANJ) recently announced new rules that online gambling operators need to adhere to in terms of posting commercial offers for customers, including welcome offers, free bets, or bonuses. The new guidelines revolve around promoting transparency and enhancing consumer safeguards.
Operators Must be Transparent, Says ANJ
Under the new rules, online operators are required to provide clear and complete information regarding key aspects of the offer, including its duration and validity, the payout method, deposit and wagering requirements, and other conditions attached to the offer.
Customers must also be granted full access to the offer’s terms and conditions written using language that can easily be understood.
New Rules Aimed at Improving Market Standards
The frequency and volume of commercial gambling offers will also be monitored and moderated moving forward, according to the ANJ. The regulator has also reminded online operators to avoid sending offers to self-excluded players or those showing signs of gambling harm.
Additionally, welcome offers must not exceed €100 and consumers must be able to choose to opt-out of receiving all forms of offers.
The new guidelines are part of ANJ’s ongoing review of the existing advertising rules in France’s gambling industry and are aimed at improving market standards.
