Online gambling operators that are members of the European Gaming & Betting Association (EGBA) have better consumer protection measures than other adult online services operating in Denmark and the UK. That’s according to a report by financial audit, tax, and advisory firm KPMG.
Member Websites Have Strong Online Protection Measures
The EGBA commissioned KPMG to assess the consumer protection measures of six of its members, with a particular focus on Data Protection, Know Your Customer (KYC), Consumer Safety, Advertising, and Anti-Money Laundering (AML).
KPMG gathered data from Entain, William Hill, Flutter, Kindred Group, Betsson, and bet365, and compared their terms of services against other adult online businesses in the alcohol retail, social media, esports, dating, and financial services sector in the regulated markets of Denmark and the UK.
KPMG found that the six online gambling operators implement stronger procedures and processes in the five distinct customer areas mentioned above.
EGBA Welcomes Report
The six operators are particularly ahead of other adult online services when it comes to AML practices, with the report noting that alcohol retailers, social networks, and e-Sports firms make no reference to AML in their websites’ terms and conditions for Danish and British customers. That’s in contrast to the six EGBA members, the majority of which offer detailed AML practices on their websites.
The EGBA welcomed the report’s findings, saying they are in line with the organization’s commitment to offering a high standard of consumer protection.
