Gambling operators L.C.S. Limited and MKC Limited have effectively terminated their online gambling services in the Dutch market in compliance with a cease and desist order issued to them by the country’s gambling regulator, Kansspelautoriteit(KSA).

Both Operators Illegally Offered Online Gambling to Dutch Players

KSA said both operators violated the Netherlands’ gambling laws by allowing Dutch customers to register and gamble on their unlicensed sites.

The regulator first ordered L.C.S. to withdraw from the market on September 5, 2022, after it was wound offering an illegal online gambling service to players from the country. L.C.S operates the online casino brands Wallacebet, Lapilanders, Nucelonbet Casino, and SvenPlay.

The same cease and desist order was also served to MKC in the same week. The Malta-licensed company operates the iGaming and sports betting site Betworld247.

KSA warned L.C.S. it would impose a fine of up to €165,000 per week if the company would not comply with the order. Similarly, MKC would face a weekly maximum penalty of €84,000 for non-compliance.

KSA will Monitor the Situation

After both companies pulled out of the market, they will no longer be required to pay the fines. However, KSA said it would keep a close eye on the situation and noted that it would reactivate the penalties if the operators went back to their old ways.
