According to a press release put out by International Game Technology (IGT), the London-listed global gaming company has inked a “broad cross-patent licensing agreement” with Aristocrat Leisure Limited.

As per the terms of the deal, both companies will offer players access to each other portfolios “of valuable patents related to game features and remote game server technologies.”

Said Renato Ascoli, IGT CEO Global Gaming: “This agreement extends and expands the previous patent cross-license between IGT and Aristocrat. This combination of two of the gaming industry’s most valuable game features and RGS patent portfolios can help propel the evolution of gaming with compelling content and advanced game mechanics.”

“We look forward to providing the entire gaming industry with the opportunity to license IGT and Aristocrat patents, particularly the compelling content resulting from our combined RGS portfolios, in the spirit of competition and innovation.”

IGT to Acquire iSoftBet

The agreement comes right on the heels of the announcement that IGT will be acquiring the leading igaming content provider and third-party aggregator, iSoftBet in a €160 million cash deal.

The deal will see IGT PlayDigital’s content library double to 225 proprietary games.

“This will enhance PlayDigital’s competitive capabilities with a proven, complementary content portfolio across Europe and North America as we provide best-in-class games and technology to our fast-growing igaming customers,” said Vince Sadusky, IGT’s CEO.
