Spread betting operator Spreadex has announced that it has been named the new shirt sponsor of Premier League football club Burnley FC for the forthcoming 2021-22 season. The partnership comes amid growing concerns over partnerships that push sports betting company’s logos on player jerseys and attire.

The Spreadex Sports logo will now be visible on the club’s players across the home, away and third kits. However, Spreadex is confident that the partnership with Burnley FC meets all regulatory standards and has agreed to make a payment of an undisclosed multimillion-dollar amount in order to see the branding rights secured for the upcoming season in less than three weeks time.

The partnership between the parties was signed in the wake of a failed partnership with sports betting operator Love Bet, which ran into financial difficulties and had to back out of the agreement.

Spreadex will collaborate with Burnley on several initiatives that are community focused, including charities that will draw a line between its sports betting business and other benefits that come out of the partnership. The operator and the club will be donating an amount of £5 (approximately $7) for each third jersey it sells, to the Alzheimer’s Society.

Ella Cummins, Burnley FC Head of Commercial partnerships commented that the team was delighted to welcome the operator as the club’s new principal partner.

Dave MacKenzie, Spreadex Chief Executive Officer, said that the company was delighted to be joining the club’s family.

He also said that this deal reflects the ambitious growth plans Spreadex has as a company, and they are thrilled to be partnering with a superbly-run club with such an established history and reputation.
