Douglas based online gaming company Microgaming is celebrating 20 years of operations in the Isle of Man this month.

The leading aggregator of online gaming content moved to the island in April 2001 and has since then invested heavily in growing its talented workforce, in innovative new headquarters, and in the community.

The last two decades has seen Microgaming place great importance on corporate social responsibility and on giving something back to the island that it calls home. The company has contributed over £3.5 million to local community initiatives, including an amount of £875,000 towards healthcare products.

Microgaming launched its overarching CSR program, Microgaming PlayItForward in 2014, which has since supported hundreds of worthy causes and events under the three pillars of People, Place and Planet.

The local community has supported and attended Microgaming-sponsored events over the years, with the Microgaming Lighthouses Challenge and the Microgaming Douglas Soapbox Race attracting hundreds of entries and spectators respectively each year.

Microgaming PlayItForward has helped to fund living costs for 24 gifted Isle of Man students attending university through its Education Bursary. There are currently 10 young people receiving financial assistance.

Microgaming’s Isle of Man team has grown from a mere 5 to 180+ strong and is now made up of industry professionals across a number of functions.

The company moved to purpose-built offices adjacent to its former headquarters in 2017 in order to accommodate its expanding workforce. The five-story building is the island’s only privately owned premises with an ‘excellent rating’
from BREEM, the world’s leading sustainability assessment method for buildings.

John Coleman, CEO at Microgaming, commented that they have come a long way since putting down roots in 2001. He added that what began as a handful of people all those years ago has flourished into a diverse, talented and passionate team and he is proud of the success and growth they have achieved together.
