European Blackjack

European Blackjack is a popular variation of the classic casino game of blackjack. In this variation, the dealer only takes the second card right after the player has finished his hand. There isn't much difference to the classic blackjack game when this game comes to mind, but some players prefer this over the classic version of the game.

How to Play European Blackjack

The game is played pretty much like you would normally play other blackjack games. The objective of the game is for the player to beat the dealer's hand by obtaining a hand that is closer to 21. The player has a number of options when playing the online casino game. The player can hit, stand, draw, press or double down, split, and take insurance. Remember that if you get a hand totaling to 21, you automatically win. If you think that you already have a good shot of winning, say for example, the cards you have total to 20, you should consider doubling down. You'll have a small chance of losing, but once you win, your winnings will be doubled. If you lose however, you lose twice the amount that you've initially bet as well.

Player Actions and Situations

Hit if you are not pleased with your cards. This will let the dealer draw another card for you. Stand is done when you are already contented with the value of your hand. You'll basically wait for the dealer to make his turn. Double down, as mentioned above, is doubling your bet and you draw another card. If you're not contented with your couple of cards, and if you think you have a good shot of winning as you get the next card, you can double down instead of just hitting. Splitting is done if your two cards have the same value. You will then have the option of drawing cards as usual. Insurance is taken when you think that the dealer is about to get a blackjack. If the dealer does get a blackjack, you are paid 2:1. If the dealer however, doesn't get a blackjack you only lose half of your bet instead. Finally, surrendering is done if the player is not at all pleased with the cards he was dealt. The player will then only lose half of the amount of his initial bet. Different situations require different actions in order for the player to win.
